Whoala

Instagram stays closed until you turn the key.

Whoala blocks the apps you choose and opens them only for a key: a tag on your wall, a barcode in the pantry, a time of day, or the Wi-Fi you're on.

Android's ready today. iPhone comes later.

How it works

1

Pick your apps

Choose which apps Whoala keeps closed. Instagram, TikTok, whatever eats your evenings.

2

Create your keys

An NFC sticker on the fridge, a barcode in the pantry, a time of day, or a Wi-Fi network. Your choice.

3

Locked until unlocked

Your apps are only available when a key unlocks them. Afterwards they close again on their own.

Four kinds of keys

Every key unlocks its own set of apps. Office Wi-Fi opens your work apps, an evening time key opens social while work stays locked.

NFC

Tap a sticker

A cheap sticker, your transit card, any NFC tag you own. Hold your phone against it, done.

Scan

Scan a code

Any barcode or QR code works, even the one on a soda can. Or let Whoala create a QR code you print and tape to the wall.

Time

Wait for the hour

No walking needed. Apps open on a schedule you set: a scroll window at 22:00, email during office hours.

Wi-Fi

Be on the right Wi-Fi

A Wi-Fi network is the key: pick the apps that unlock when you're at the office, closed again when you leave.

Fair questions

What does it cost?

Nothing. Up to three keys of any type, mixed however you like. Want more? That's Pro: €14.99, paid once, yours forever. No subscription, no account, no upsell emails.

Does it block all my apps?

Only the ones you tell it to. Your camera, maps and messages work like they always did. Whoala minds its own list.

What if I just delete the app?

Go ahead. Whoala is friction, not a cage. But deleting, reinstalling and logging back in takes just long enough for you to ask: do I actually want this scroll? Usually, no.

Which phones does it work on?

Android, for now. Setup takes about two minutes.

When's the iPhone version coming?

As soon as we can. We're working hard on it, but there's no date to promise yet.

Do I need to buy anything?

Not even a sticker. Scan keys work with any existing barcode or QR code, even one on a soda can, or a QR code Whoala prints for you. If you prefer tap-to-open, a cheap NFC sticker or even your transit card will do.

Can different keys unlock different apps?

Yes, and that's the fun part. Give the office Wi-Fi your work apps. Give the 9pm time key your social apps. Work stays locked in the evening, Instagram stays locked at your desk.

Do I have to walk to the tag every single time?

No. Every key has an unlock window you choose: tap once and your apps stay open for 5 minutes, an hour, whatever fits. When the window closes, they lock themselves.

What if I lose the tag?

Pick a new barcode, print a fresh QR code or rewrite a sticker straight from the app. Your rules live on your phone; the tag is just a key, and keys are cheap.

Does Whoala see what I do?

It can't. There's no account, no server, no analytics. Everything stays on your phone, where it belongs.

Ready to lock up the scroll?

Android's ready today. iPhone comes later.

Whoa. Your apps can wait!
